The SSB stands for S Series Swingback. The defining feature is the hinged rear lounge that pivots to face the stern, clearing the swim platform area when passengers want access to the water and giving the back of the boat a completely different feel compared to a fixed bench layout. When the swingback is in the forward-facing position, the stern seats function like any standard lounge. When rotated, they open up the rear of the boat for swimmers, riders, and anyone getting in and out of the water repeatedly throughout the day.
For families who anchor frequently, tow tubes, or simply have kids who are constantly in and out of the water, the swingback configuration makes the back of the boat considerably easier to manage than a fixed stern layout. The open bow adds additional seating up front, so the combined capacity of the 20SSB handles a full group without the stern feeling crowded when the lounge is in the open position.
Why Bennington 20SSB Boats
The 20SSB is available in both standard two-tube and SPS performance configurations. The standard model handles calm water well and is rated for engines up to 90 horsepower, which is the right range for Lake Winnisquam, Ossipee Lake, and most protected NH lakes. The SPS version adds the center performance tube, WaveTamer technology, and hydraulic steering, expanding the engine rating to 150 horsepower. On larger or choppier water, the handling difference between the two is real and noticeable, particularly with a full group aboard.
