Bennington 188SL Pontoon Boats
The 188SL is built on the same aluminum pontoon platform as the rest of the S Line with the same fit and finish standards, just at a smaller scale. Standard features include bimini top, swim ladder, stereo, and Bennington’s standard furniture appointments. The open bow layout seats up to 9 passengers, which is a full boat for a 19-foot platform.
The 188 in the model name refers to the 18-foot class deck length, which is shorter than the 20SL and 20SSR but still a full-sized pontoon in terms of usable space. For NH lakes like Lake Winnisquam and Ossipee Lake, where the water is calm, and the boat lives on a trailer rather than a slip, the 188SL is one of the easiest pontoons to own and manage.
Why Bennington 188SL Boats
The 188SL is available with Bennington’s SPS performance package, which adds a third center tube and WaveTamer technology. On a 19-foot boat, the SPS is typically paired with engines in the 60 to 90 horsepower range. The handling improvement is real, but the case for SPS is slightly less urgent on the 188SL than on the 20-foot models simply because a 19-foot boat at the right engine rating already handles well on most NH lakes.
Where the SPS makes the most sense on an 188SL is for buyers who want to tow tubes or occasionally ski, or for buyers who run on larger water where chop is more common. For calm-water cruising and fishing on protected lakes, the standard two-tube 188SL is a capable and cost-effective boat.
